Clausura 2010: round 11 Friday goals

Godoy Cruz’s hardest assignment of the year to date was a visit to Estudiantes on Friday evening which saw them lose 2-1, though in truth the hosts could have won by more. After going 2-0 up they always exerted an air of control over the match, and Godoy sadly never looked like claiming a point. In the other match, a little later, Huracán travelled to Rosario to face Central, and came home with a 2-0 win which – if Racing win on Saturday – will leave Central in the relegation playoff zone. Fittingly, an ex Newell’s player, Adrián Peralta, opened the scoring for Huracán. You can watch all the goals right here.

Estudiantes 2 – 0 Godoy Cruz

Rosario Central 0 – 2 Huracán

  1. It made my morning to look here on the phone to see Central had lost. What a great opportunity now for Racing – no Luguercio though, but don’t blow it Racing!

  2. GRANDE RACING! WHen did you ever see Racing dominate a half like that, Newell’s were never in it?!

Bieler should have scored at least two, as a striker he had a pretty poor night, my favourite player was Jose Fernandez, never stopped battling down that left side for Racing from first whistle to last. And Castroman is a footballer again, I was moaning that Bieler had messed up another move and it came to Castroman to bring it back to life with a clever pass to Aveldano. Typical that it takes a combination of central defenders to score, with Ayala sitting on the bench!

Anyway, a brilliant night, and next week’s fixtures could see Racing FIVE points clear of trouble, as long as revitalised Boca see fit to bother against sides other than River Plate. Weird to be supporting Boca in three successive fixtures, ha ha (eye on the 2011 promedios in the Super, in which I am usually totally apathetic/neutral delete as applicable).

BTW, if you ever miss a game (I missed the Super), you can download and watch full matches at Rojadirecta, just thought I mentioned that cause I watched the Super last night.

      1. Thanks for that Mike, just joined and it’s pretty good, but the guy made a strange choice of AFA matches for last weekend – he uploaded Tigre-Lanús but missed out Banfield-GELP (crucial to relegation) and Colón-Independiente (top of the table).
