There were only two goals in Friday’s matches in the Torneo Clausura, both of which went to the home sides. Vélez vs Tigre was a deeply boring affair in which the one small amusement to be found was the Vélez fan a few rows behind me who felt the need, approximately every three minutes, to inform Tigre boss Ricardo Caruso Lombardi that his mother doesn’t have a very good reputation. Later on, Godoy Cruz beat Chacarita Juniors by a single goal to confirm the visitors’ relegation and leave the mendocinos temporarily back atop the league after last week’s loss at River. Watch both goals right here.
I was hoping Tigre would get a late and undeserved winner, but eventually it was Vélez who managed that, Rolando Zárate heading home with what proved to be the third from last touch of the match. I got a photo of that moment as well, but it’ll take a bit of editing before it’s anywhere near good enough to be uploaded.
Vélez Sarsfield 1 – 0 Tigre
Godoy Cruz Antonio Tomba 1 – 0 Chacarita Juniors
You can follow the Clausura and the Argentine sides in the 2010 Copa Libertadores via HEGS on Twitter (including updates during and between matches and similar stories that might not go up on the site until later). I’m slowly gaining followers, but if you’ve not signed up yet you can do so here.
“Immediate” reports from Sam and stories from the stands. Wonderful. Welcome again !
Thanks again Johnny! I’m thinking of heading down to see your lot in the clásico tomorrow if there are still tickets when I get there…
