Banfield have advanced to the round of sixteen in the 2010 Copa Sudamericana, after a 1-1 draw with Vélez Sarsfield in El Sur which, combined with the 1-0 win they’d claimed in the first leg, sent them through. Marcelo Carrusca scored a brilliant opener for Banfield 14 minutes in, and although Jonathan Cristaldo got an equaliser on the night for Vélez in the 89th minute – by which time the visitors were down to eight men and Banfield down to ten, Carrusca having been sent off to complete a mixed night for him – it wasn’t enough. You can watch the goals right here, of course.
