
As the clock ticked into stoppage time in El Coloso Del Parque, it looked like Newell’s Old Boys vs Estudiantes was going to be scoreless in the Copa Sudamericana second phase first leg. But then youngster Daniel Salvatierra, off the bench for Newell’s, robbed the ball from Leandro Benítez, and was brought down in the area. Mauro Formica converted the penalty, and Estudiantes will have it all to do when the tie goes to Quilmes next Wednesday.
