Newell’s Old Boys eliminated Estudiantes de La Plata from the 2010 Copa Sudamericana on Wednesday night with a 1-1 draw in Quilmes which puts the Rosario side through with a 2-1 aggregate win. Gastón Fernández opened the scoring for the hosts to draw the tie level, and it looked to be heading to penalties until Iván Borghello stepped up in stoppage time to make it 1-1 on the night and 2-1 on aggregate, and send the rosarinos through to the round of sixteen.
