Huracán thump San Lorenzo, and all the Apertura 2010 round 12 scores and scorers

Carlos Quintana looks quite happy with his opener against San Lorenzo...

The remaining two clásicos of the weekend were among Sunday’s four Primera División matches, and the first saw Huracán smash San Lorenzo 3-0 with two brilliant goals from their two centre backs, Carlos Quintana and Facundo Quiroga. The other, Independiente vs Boca Juniors, was a much duller affair, the main talking point being how on earth Boca’s Juan Manuel Insaurralde stayed on the pitch after a potentially horrendous (but thankfully seemingly merely painful) challenge on Hernán Fredes in a 0-0 draw. Elsewhere Newell’s beat Gimnasia La Plata 1-0, and Tigre and Olimpo – typically for a weekend with so many lauded fixtures – served up the best entertainment of the weekend, the hosts running out 3-2 winners in Victoria. All the day’s goals, plus the weekend’s scorers and red cards, are right here.

  1. Johnny’s Weekly Boca Update:

Any grandiose thoughts about progressing up the table and squeezing into the Libertadores have now been scattered to the wind. 0-0 it turns out versus Independiente and Boca was lucky not to have lost. Poor midfield play, nothing from Palermo or Viatri, and impulsive idiocy from Insaurralde and Jesus Mendez. I couldn’t agree more with Sam about Insaurralde’s challenge on Fredes. As ugly as they come and the arbitro issues a tame yellow. Astounding. And then Mendez gets sent off for complaining. He who has been a huge disappointment since arriving from Rosario Central nearly two years ago.

    That’s it from irritable Bosteroland.
