Eleven days after it should have been played, the biggest fixture in the Argentine calendar – and, in terms of league position and current form, just possibly the most mediocre match of the season – will kick off at 7pm Argentine time this evening. River Plate host Boca Juniors in one of the biggest derbies on the planet, and I’ve got a few previews for you to check out. First up, my straight-up match preview for In Bed With Maradona is online here. Next, a reminder from last Friday that my Soccernet article looking at Juan Román Riquelme’s return in the last round for Boca Juniors and his importance to the team is here, and finally, in case you’ve not already heard it, our first ever Hand Of Pod podcast is a preview to the super and you can listen to it here. I’ll be back in a few hours’ time with the starting XIs.
You can follow the daily ins and outs during the 2010 Apertura, as well Argentine clubs in the Copa Sudamericana, the country’s vast foreign legion and the latest news from the selección during the 2010-2011 season direct from Buenos Aires with HEGS on Twitter.
