Thursday night saw two Argentine sides in action in the Copa Libertadores, and both claimed big wins for their group stage campaigns. First, in a showdown between the first- and third-most successful sides in the competition’s history, Independiente easily dispatched Peñarol, 3-0 in the Estadio Libertadores de América for a second group win. After that, 1985 winners Argentinos Juniors dismissed Club América de México 3-1 (with former Huracán, River Plate and Independiente man Daniel Montenegro getting the visitors’ goal), to move onto four points following their opening away draw with Fluminense. All the goals are here, as well as that from Estudiantes’ 1-0 win over Tolima on Wednesday night.
Estudiantes 1 – 0 Tolima (COL)
Independiente 3 – 0 Peñarol (URU)
Argentinos 3 – 1 América (MEX)
