Clausura: River back to winning ways, Lanús thrash Racing (video)

Leandro Caruso celebrates his first goal in over a year

River Plate got back to winning ways after two weekends of dropped points on Saturday evening, hosting Newell’s Old Boys and beating them 2-1 with two goals from – I hope you’re sitting down – Leandro Caruso, who was only playing due to Mariano Pavone’s injury, and who hadn’t scored in nearly a year and a half previously. There was an away win for San Lorenzo over leaders Olimpo, and Huracán got a big three points against relegation rivals Gimnasia La Plata, but the other attention-grabbing scoreline was Lanús’ 4-1 thrashing of previously free-flowing Racing. All the goals from the day’s games are right here.

Huracán 2 – 0 Gimnasia La Plata

Olimpo 0 – 1 San Lorenzo

Lanús 4 – 1 Racing

River 2 – 1 Newell’s
