The tenth round of the 2011 Torneo Clausura gets underway in a few hours’ time when Quilmes host Newell’s Old Boys. If it will be hard to avoid the temptation to give that one a miss (they’ve looked by some distance the two worst teams of 2011 so far), the weekend’s other fixtures more than make up for it. Table-topping River Plate travel to former manager Ángel Cappa’s in-form Gimnasia La Plata, two of the chasing pack meet in Bahía Blanca, where Olimpo welcome Estudiantes, and second-placed Vélez are sure to keep the pressure on River with a win away to Colón after securing qualification to the Copa Libertadores knockout round. Oh, and there’s the small matter of one of the world’s maddest derbies, with Independiente making the short journey – two blocks, in fact – to Racing’s stadium for the clásico de Avellaneda. Hand Of Pod episode 15 has a preview of that match, if you’re interested. All the kick off times and referees are right here.
All kick off times are local. Add four hours for British Summer Time.
