Saturday was a momentous day in the 2011 Torneo Clausura. For one thing, Racing Club’s recent luck against hated rivals and near neighbours Independiente changed, and they deservedly claimed a 2-0 win in the clásico de Avellaneda, with goals from Gabriel Hauche on the stroke of half time, and Teófilo Gutiérrez in the second half. Much more amazingly, though, All Boys won 3-1 against relegation rivals Huracán, and Cristian Fabbiani, a striker brought in solely because his girth provides ample space to display the club’s various shirt sponsors, scored two goals before being substituted at half time. Earlier, San Lorenzo had drawn with Lanús. In the evening’s last game, Godoy Cruz were quick off the mark, taking two minutes to score against Argentinos Juniors in a 1-0 win in Mendoza. All the day’s goals are right here.
San Lorenzo de Almagro 1 – 1 Lanús
Racing Club 2 – 0 Independiente
All Boys 3 – 1 Huracán
Club Deportivo Godoy Cruz Antonio Tomba 1 – 0 Asociación Atlética Argentinos Juniors
