Clausura: Godoy Cruz recover, Tigre thump Colón (video)

Valentín Viola celebrates his 80th minute opener for Racing

Godoy Cruz recovered from their 4-1 mauling at the hands of Arsenal de Sarandí last weekend by beating Newell’s Old Boys 3-1 in Rosario on Friday night to move back into contention in the Torneo Clausura. On Saturday, Quilmes failed to win for the first time in a while – but still got a lateish goal to rescue a point against fellow relegation strugglers Gimnasia La Plata in a 2-2 draw. Olimpo beat Huracán 2-1 in Parque Patricios, and Tigre saw off Colón – who were previously undefeated away from home this year – 3-0. In the late game between Arsenal and Racing, three goals in the last ten minutes of the ninety left Racing with their second win in eight matches, 2-1. You can see all the goals right here.

Newell’s Old Boys 1 – 3 Godoy Cruz

Quilmes 2 – 2 Gimnasia

Huracán 1 – 2 Olimpo

Tigre 3 – 0 Colón

  1. Stracqualursi scores AGAIN! That boy has been a machine this season. I notice Napoli have forged an official bid recently, would be interesting to see how he does over there…
