The Copa América 2011 continued on Tuesday night with Group C’s concluding matches, which first saw Chile secure top spot in the group with a stoppage time winner against Peru to take the game 1-0, and then saw Uruguay beat Mexico by the same scoreline in La Plata, to confirm second place and set up a titanic clash against Argentina in the quarter-finals on Saturday. I was at the La Plata game, and whilst the pitch is still absolutely dreadful, the atmosphere made it a virtual home match for Uruguay – I’d guess around 90% of the crowd were celeste fans. Anyway, the highlights from both games are right here, and if you’d like to see some pics from La Plata, you can do over on my Flickr page.
