There were four matches in the 2011 Torneo Apertura on Sunday, and for a change none of them ended in draws. Arsenal de Sarandí got an away win over Banfield, 1-0, in Ricardo La Volpe’s first match in charge of El Taladro. Belgrano de Córdoba beat Independiente in the Estadio Mario Alberto Kempes 2-0, and their fellow promotees Unión de Santa Fe also won, surprising Vélez Sarsfield, the current champions, 1-0 in Liniers – the third domestic match in a row that Vélez have lost. Boca Juniors were the day’s biggest winners, unlucky to only beat San Martín de San Juan by one goal to nil, but going to the top of the Torneo Apertura table all the same. They might be joined by Lanús if the Granate win on Monday night away to Argentinos Juniors. You can see the goals from Sunday’s matches right here.
