Apertura 2011: Argentinos finally win, and Rafaela down Lanús (video)

Fede González celebrates his goal for Rafaela

Friday and Saturday only saw three top flight matches in Argentina, but they were significant all the same. On Friday night, Argentinos Juniors claimed their first victory of the season, at the tenth attempt, beating Belgrano 2-1 away from home to finally lift themselves off the bottom of the table. Saturday’s big matches started with River Plate’s away match to Ferro Carril Oeste in the second division, a 0-0 draw which puts the Millonarios one point clear at the top. Later, Atlético Rafaela turned the tables to beat nine-man Lanús 2-1, and Vélez Sarsfield got a 1-0 home win against San Martín de San Juan. All the goals are here.

Belgrano 1 – 2 Argentinos Juniors

Rafaela 2 – 1 Lanús
