Before the start of the twelfth round of Torneo Clausura action, I thought I’d give HEGS readers a chance to catch up the Argentine clubs in the Copa Sudamericana. Apologies that these videos weren’t posted after the matches in question, but I’ve had a weekend full of deadlines and, with spring very much in the air in Buenos Aires, was in more of a mood to get some sun than to be making blog posts. Anyway. Vélez Sarsfield and Arsenal de Sarandí both went through to the quarter-finals last week, whilst Godoy Cruz were eliminated on penalties by Universitario of Peru. All the goals are right here.
Vélez Sarsfield 1 – 1 Universidad Católica (CHI) (Vélez win 3-1 on agg)
Arsenal Fútbol Club 3 – 2 Club Olimpia (PAR)
Club Universitario de Deportes (PER) 1 – 1 Club Deportivo Godoy Cruz Antonio Tomba (Universitario win 3-2 on penalties after 2-2 aggregate draw)
You can follow the latest news from the selección and Argentina’s foreign legion of players, as well as the domestic championship, River Plate’s first second division campaign in over a century and the ever entertaining/tragic/infuriating capers of Julio Grondona & chums direct from Buenos Aires with HEGS on Twitter. If you’ve not signed up yet you can do so here. You can also join the official HEGS Facebook group, to keep up to date with the latest posts on the blog and discuss things with other fans.
