Messi’s first international hat trick helps Argentina beat Switzerland (video)

In an international friendly on Wednesday afternoon (or evening, depending which continent you were watching from), Alejandro Sabella’s Argentina took on Switzerland in Berne and after a performance that was neither stunning nor poor from the team as a whole, Lionel Messi shone. He scored his first hat trick for his country, including two late goals (the third a penalty) after Switzerland had levelled the game through Xerdan Shaqiri early in the second half. His first and second ones were just lovely. You can see all of them right here.

  1. In my opinion, Cristiano has been the better player so far this sesaon. Ronaldo has performed for club and country whereas Messi’s has been an international flop . That’s because he (Messi) does not have players like Iniesta, Alves etc while in international duty.

Messi has missed a penalty this season which cost Barcelona 3 points, and another in the copa del rey semi-final. Ronaldo is yet to miss a penalty.

Messi has just scored 4 away league goals this season ; a lucky goal at Athletic and a hat-trick at Malaga. Ronaldo on the other hand has scored goals at home, away from home, from centre, from the right, from the left… from everywhere.

Messi has scored 40 goals and Ronaldo 39. But Ronaldo has scored much more difficlut and important goals.

I think Ronaldo, who has been second best behind Messi for 3 years, is clearly out performing Messi.

    1. they are different types of players. ronaldo is a machine built to focus on scoring and hes awesome at that, messis a team player

  2. ronaldo a so so player , goals what most from penalties when was the last time he scored a hat trick for his country oh thats right he starts crying.

  3. A lot of Ronaldo’s goals are from Pks, Messi leads in goals and assits for Barcalona, without Messi Barca is not the same team no utting edge.
