Inicial 2012: Newell’s held again, Stracqualursi helps San Lorenzo to a win, and Independiente & River draw in a four-goal clásico (video)

Saturday saw the start of the seventeenth round of the 2012 Torneo Inicial, and plenty of goals. Independiente hosted River Plate in one of the weekend’s two clásicos, and drew 2-2; a result River scarcely deserved. Unión – one of two sides still without a win – took a 2-0 half time lead against Newell’s Old Boys, who until last weekend were still unbeaten, but were pegged back with two goals in as many minutes and had to settle for a 2-2 draw as well. San Martín and Belgrano de Córdoba drew 1-1, and the day’s only non-stalemate saw San Lorenzo beat Argentinos Juniors 2-1 away, with Denis ‘Stracq Attack’ Stracqualursi scoring the opening goal with a superbly taken lob. All those goals are right here.

Independiente 2 – 2 River Plate

Unión 2 – 2 Newell’s Old Boys

San Martín de San Juan 1 – 1 Belgrano

Argentinos Juniors 1 – 2 San Lorenzo
