The Saints get their Pope

As you might have heard, a new head of the Roman Catholic Church was elected on Wednesday, and he’s Argentine. Inevitably, people with a highly developed set of priorities started asking the important questions, like; ‘Does he support River Plate, or Boca Juniors?’ The answer is neither – he’s a San Lorenzo fan (and member). In this article for ESPNFC, I consider just how important that really is, and how Argentine football fans of all stripes have reacted to the news. The Pope, Viggo Mortensen, Lionel Messi and Diego Maradona all get at least a passing mention. Enjoy.
