All the weekend’s Superliga highlights: Boca and River both get last-minute winners ahead of the Supercopa

A family birthday meant I had a very full weekend and barely had time to watch most of the nineteenth round of Superliga action; nor did I manage to get these videos up on the evening the Superliga YouTube account published them, as I’ve been trying to do lately. So here are no fewer than fourteen videos to enjoy! Both Boca Juniors and River Plate got stoppage time winners, in River’s case after another poor performance and in Boca’s, after a spirited battle from Tigre had seen them equalise just minutes earlier. Boca (as last season’s league champions) and River (as last year’s Copa Argentina winners) will meet in Mendoza on Wednesday night in a Supercopa Argentina which, some rumours suggest, could go some way to deciding whether Marcelo Gallardo remains to River much longer. Elsewhere, an entertaining 2-1 win for Independiente over Argentinos Juniors meant they cemented third place after San Lorenzo could only draw in their clásico away to Huracán. Talleres kept second place with a win over Atlético Tucumán, and Lautaro Martínez scored again, even if Racing could only draw away to Chacarita Juniors. For all the highlights, step this way …

Godoy Cruz 1-0 Arsenal de Sarandí

Gimnasia 0-2 Banfield
