Thursday night saw the continuation of the Copa Libertadores group stage, as the competition’s most successful club, Independiente, hosted Colombian giants Millonarios in Avellaneda. Independiente had got off to a poor start with an unexpected defeat away to Venezuelan side Deportivo Lara in their first game, but got back on the front foot here with a defensively assured performance, and claimed victory thanks to a goal which was created by recent Argentina call-up Maxi Meza and thumped home by Martín Benítez. The highlights are here.
