Saturday’s Superliga games saw just nine goals in four matches, but that stat was probably the second most important of the day, in terms of the health of the title race. More pertinently, San Lorenzo and second-placed Talleres both won their matches, to ensure that what tiny amount of relevance they still have to the destination of the title remains. Talleres are five points behind Boca Juniors – who are away to Atlético Tucumán on Sunday – after a rather violent 1-0 win over Defensa y Justicia, while San Lorenzo brushed Olimpo aside 2-0 to temporarily leapfrog Independiente (who play Tigre on Monday night) into third place. In the day’s other matches, Argentinos Juniors beat Newell’s Old Boys, Huracán got a 2-1 away win over Temperley, and San Martín beat Gimnasia 3-0.
Argentinos Juniors 1-0 Newell’s Old Boys
Temperley 1-2 Huracán
San Martín de San Juan 3-0 Gimnasia La Plata
