Argentina 2-0 Italy: highlights

On Friday, Argentina beat Italy 2-0 in a friendly in Manchester, thanks to goals from Éver Banega and Manuel Lanzini – the West Ham United playmaker’s first goal for his country, in his third cap. It wasn’t a perfect performance, but it left Jorge Sampaoli more satisfied than not, and several players – including Willy Caballero, Fabricio Bustos, Nicolás Tagliafico and Lanzini himself – will have good reason to feel they’ve made a decent case for inclusion when the World Cup squad gets announced. Argentina’s mini tour of Europe (seriously, that’s what some of the press here are calling it) continues and indeed concludes on Tuesday, when they visit Spain in Atlético de Madrid’s new Wanda Metropolitana stadium. You can see the highlights of yesterday’s game here.
