Highlights: Racing get a draw in Chile, Boca edge out Junior and San Lorenzo beat Independiente in the Superliga

There have been four midweek games so far involving Argentine sides. One was in the Superliga on Wednesday night, with Independiente hosting San Lorenzo in the game left over from earlier this year due to Independiente’s involvement in the Recopa Sudamericana. In that match, which saw Fabricio Bustos red carded for the hosts, a 14th minute goal from Rubén Botta was enough to give San Lorenzo an away win which takes them second, a mere eight points behind Boca Juniors. Speaking of Boca, they didn’t enjoy themselves much but did get up and running in the Copa Libertadores thanks to a first half goal from Cristian Pavón, in a match in which Atlético Junior pushed them hard in the Bombonera. Also on Wednesday evening, Atlético Tucumán lost 3-1 away to Peñarol. And on Tuesday, Racing drew 1-1 away to Universidad de Chile, an Alejandro Donatti free kick cancelling out David Pizarro’s opener (yes, that David Pizarro. Yes, I’m surprised he’s still playing as well). You can see the highlights here, apart from the Superliga game because the Superliga YouTube channel haven’t uploaded it yet. I’ll try and remember to stick it up during the day on Thursday.

Universidad de Chile 1-1 Racing Club

Peñarol 3-1 Atlético Tucumán

Boca Juniors 1-0 Atlético Junior
