Sunday Superliga highlights: Boca stumble against Independiente, River make it five in a row, and a six-goal thriller in Santa Fe

Sunday’s Superliga matches began with a bang in Santa Fe, where Unión hosted Tigre and the two teams ended up sharing the spoils after a remarkable end to the game. The hosts led 2-0 until the 83rd minute, only to be pulled back to 2-2 with two goals in little over a minute. Unión retook the lead in stoppage time, but Carlos Luna stabbed home another equaliser for Tigre even later to spoil the party. At lunchtime, Estudiantes got a 1-0 win away to Patronato, before Colón also won away, 2-0 against Chacarita Juniors – a result which means that if Vélez Sarsfield avoid defeat against San Lorenzo on Monday, Chacarita will be relegated. River Plate made it five wins in a row in the league with a 2-0 win over Rosario Central, and in the evening Independiente dented Boca Juniors’ lead at the top with a 1-0 win in Avellaneda. Boca are now four points clear of second placed Godoy Cruz with four matches remaining.

Unión 3-3 Tigre

Patronato 0-1 Estudiantes

Chacarita Juniors 0-2 Colón

River Plate 2-0 Rosario Central

Independiente 1-0 Boca Juniors
