There were two games yesterday evening in the Superliga. In Rosario, Newell’s Old Boys hosted Talleres and got a rather surprising victory, beating them 2-1 thanks to a winner from Jerónimo Cacciabue to prevent Talleres from going third and to lift themselves to twenty-second. Later, Vélez Sarsfield and San Lorenzo were involved in an entertaining game which saw Mauro Zárate open the scoring half an hour in. San Lorenzo rallied in the second half, and led 2-1 through goals from Nahuel Barrios and Gastón Reniero, only for Matías Vargas to pounce in the 88th minute to claim a 2-2 draw – a result which means that, with four games to go, Chacarita Juniors are relegated after just one season in the top flight.
