Sunday Superliga highlights: River’s reserves ease past Arsenal, and Boca are on the brink

Sunday brought five matches and eleven goals in the Superliga. In the 11am kick off, there was unusually low score, with Huracán beating Tigre 2-0 to cement their continental qualification hopes. At (late) lunchtime, goals from Brian Mansilla and Lautaro Martínez helped Racing win against their manager Eduardo Coudet’s old club, Rosario Central, 2-0, before a less than thrilling affair in Tucumán ended Atlético 0-0 Unión. In late afternoon, goalkeeper Franco Armani was the only regular starter to kick off for River Plate away to long-ago relegated Arsenal de Sarandí, but they got a 3-0 win anyway thanks to first half strikes from Exequiel Palacios and Fernando Quintero, as well as an own goal from Claudio Corvalán. And in the evening, Boca Juniors took a huge step towards a second consecutive league title by beating Newell’s Old Boys 3-1 in the Bombonera, with Ramón Ábila grabbing a brace.

Tigre 0-2 Huracán

Rosario Central 0-2 Racing

Atlético Tucumán 0-0 Unión

Arsenal de Sarandí 0-3 River Plate

Boca Juniors 3-1 Newell’s Old Boys
