Superliga Saturday highlights: Vélez claim back to back wins, and Huracán close in on a Libertadores spot

Saturday’s Superliga matches brought a second straight win for Gabriel Heinze’s Vélez Sarsfield side, thanks to a Lucas Robertone goal with about fifteen minutes to play which saw them beat Banfield in Liniers. Defensa y Justicia claimed a comfortable win over Rosario Central to record a fourth consecutive victory and continue to dream of a Copa Libertadores spot, albeit surely without much hope. More realistic hopes of such a spot exist for Huracán, who came out on top of a five-goal thriller in Parque Patricios, beating Atlético Tucumán 3-2 to go third overnight. In the day’s other matches, Independiente got a 1-0 win away to Newell’s Old Boys, and Lanús had goalkeeper Esteban Andrada to thank for a 0-0 draw at home to Argentinos Juniors.

Vélez Sarsfield 1-0 Banfield

Defensa y Justicia 3-1 Rosario Central

Newell’s Old Boys 0-1 Independiente

Lanús 0-0 Argentinos Juniors

Huracán 3-2 Atlético Tucumán
