Monday night didn't have the most enticing set of fixtures of the round, but there were a couple of talking points all the same. Talleres went third in the league thanks to a 1-0 away win over Temperley, with Junior Arias scoring the only goal of the game. Elsewhere, Chacarita Juniors got a 2-0 win... Continue Reading →

Lanús, San Lorenzo and Godoy Cruz ensured on Monday evening that a free-scoring weekend ended as it had started, although Colón didn't have any part to play beyond defending poorly to allow their hosts Godoy to hit three unanswered goals past them. In El Sur, Lanús beat San Lorenzo by the odd goal in five,... Continue Reading →
Clausura 2010: Round 18 Saturday goals
There were three goleadas (that's 'thrashings') on Saturday, with Vélez thumping already-relegated Chacarita Juniors 4-1 and Newell's tearing a pathetic Gimnasia La Plata to pieces in the Estadio Marcelo Bielsa. Most eyebrows were raised, though, in El Cilindro where an actually very even match ended 3-0 to visitors River Plate over Racing. Both sides have... Continue Reading →

The Torneo Clausura title just might be decided this weekend, with title contenders Estudiantes de La Plata playing at the same time as Argentinos Juniors on Sunday. If Estudiantes win, Argentinos have to match their score to go into the last round of matches still in the hunt. If both teams were to lose, it... Continue Reading →
